The Runic Year
F. H. Hamkens and Karl Weigel
Karl Weigel was a German historian and symbol researcher. A ranking member of the Ahnenerbe, Weigel headed the Office for Symbol Research, which later merged with the Office for Runic Research under the direction of Wolfgang Krause. In the course of this merger, Weigel became head of the Symbolic Studies department.
F. H. Hamkens was a German historian and author. He was a research assistant in Wilhelm Teudt’s Friends of Germanic Prehistory Association, and later assisted in their archeological work at the Externsteine. In these years until the end of the war, he published books on “symbolic research,” building on the work of Völkisch authors.
