Bal Gangadhar Tilak
Best known for his controversial book on Aryan prehistory The Arctic Home in the Vedas, nationalist scholar Bal Gangadhar Tilak had previously outlined the basic ideas of that work in Orion, or Researches into the Antiquity of the Vedas. Here, Tilak argues that the Vedas are much older than previously believed, citing astronomical references to the constellation Orion that would place their composition at the earliest stages of recorded history.
