Herman Wirth
Three texts by Herman Wirth are collected in this volume; On the Primordial Mind of Human Beings, What is German?, and European Primitive Religion and the Externsteine. Of particular interest is the first selection, where the author defends the legitimacy of the Oera Linda book by performing comparative etymological and iconographic analyses of prehistoric European cultures to support his claim that not only is it an authentic document, but that its origin can be traced back to the earliest religions – and possibly further. In doing so, he refutes the accusation of his political opponents that such a claim is antithetical to the spirit of the Ahnenerbe program.
