Fascism as a European Phenomenon

Adriano Romualdi

A prolific author and cultural organizer in the milieu of Italian right-wing radicalism, Adriano Romualdi was among the first Evolian intellectual activists. He affirmed the struggle between nations has been replaced by that between continents. In this view, Romualdi overcomes the desperate anti-modernism of the last years of Evola’s work and proposes a new political perspective based on his “Birth of Fascism.”

This contribution by Romualdi is of particular interest for the historiographical slant with which the topic is approached. The modernity of the fascist phenomenon, which is nourished by the spiritual and cultural soil of Europe, is clearly grasped by the scholar in his attempt to socialize traditional values, re-proposing them in the era of modernization and massification, in order to “reintegrate the disinherited in property, in the family, in the homeland”.
